Our chipped PS2 will play ps1 backups fine. I recently bought one of these PSxchange disks so that our original playstation system (not PS1) could also play backups.
I can't get the playstation to play any of the backups when using the PSXchange disk. I use the spring to hold down the button as instructed. The PSXchange boots up fine, asks for the backup. When the backup is inserted and started, the screen will go black and then nothing else happens (one time I did get a game splash screen). Some of them will spin up and then just stop, some of the backups will grind horribly. Again, all the backups work fine in the chipped ps2.
The backups were burned on Verbatum media at 1x.
Do I need to burn the backups differently for them to work with this boot disk?
Could the laser be to old (the system is at least 8 years old probably) to read the backups?
Could the boot disk be defective in some way?
Anyone out there know anything about these things?
Thanks,
