I have 2 old Compaq computers that I would like to install Win/98 but I can't. The first one is a CDS 972 that I formatted which went ok, but when I tried to boot from the win/98 cd it would not boot. So I went into the bios to change the boot order but there was no option in the bios to do so.

The second is a Compaq 4112 with the same type of bios.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you fix it?

Get the ME bootdisk from www.bootdisk.com

Set the system to boot from the floppy then change to the CD drive where you have Win98 CD to run the setup.

What Van is telling you to do is to make the boot floppy, boot off that, when its done, you will have access to your CDROM drive, then you run SETUP off that.

Old Compaqs may not have the options to change boot orders.
