i have a network at uni and my computer is set a a workgroup computer.

when i go home my dad has a domain set up, so if i want the internet i have to join that domain

the problem is when i come back eg for summer i have to join the domain and this makes a new user (which ****s up all the user settings, eg no email accounts in outlook no programs in the start menu)

basically is there a way i can just have the one user account but be able to access the domain at home and be a workgroup computer at uni(i dont mind fiddling with the ip addresses whenever i change network)

any help much appreciated, thanks

Usually it's the other way around..home users are on a workgroup, large corporations and universities are on domains.

I take my laptop back and forth between home and work. Domain at work, workgroup at home. At home I log into the system the same as if I'm at work. I still get access to my home workgroup network and resources.

If you're system, and his domain, is configured right it should be functioning the same way without creating new accounts.

If you want a relatively idiot-proof option for the typical end-user, look into a program called Netswitcher (http://www.netswitcher.com/).
