took out old pci card, put in geforce 4 MX440 64 mb tv-out card but....
the drivers are installed yet it will only start up in safe mode.
any ideas?

definitely, but it sounds like the drivers are not right. Try downloading the latest drivers, and see here:

Make sure your motherboard bios is at latest level as well.

how do i find out what mb it is so i can flash bios?
its old 330mhz but doesnt say on it what it is?

i dont think you should do that just yet m8 (but to find out use a piece of software called sis sandra)
you really need to teel us what driver your currently using, what version of windows, what make the card is and the general pc speck

One (silly) point.... Are you sure it's safe mode and not 16 Colour mode, which looks like Safe Mode?

well
go into safe mode, into device manager, uninstall the display adapter, reboot into normal mode, and reinstall the driver thru normal mode, and restart, then change settings.

done that and it works now, but.....
the pc was good speed b4 installing card, now it crawls???
