My version 4 ps2 m2pro modded unit will load everything i throw at it(i.e. ps2 originals,all brands of b/ups,all ps1 originals and b/ups)The problem I have is when i put the ps2 into ps1/movie mode and try to load a movie all it does is immediately tell me it is "Unable To Read Disc" or it will load to the F.B.I. warning screen and then give me the unable to read disc notice.Is there any program that could assist it's ability to read or a special sequence of buttons to push.aarrrghhh!this is so frustrating,if it will load dvdr game backups,why won't it load movies of any kind?ANY help with this problem is appreciated.thnx

Well considering you have a V4, I'd say that your laser either needs adjustment or replacement. That is usually the problem. If you are getting a video signal, the points are probably Ok, but I'd get the DVD controler checked, points A-I.

Does your unit boot the following media:

CDR?
DVDR?

If no to DVDR and yes to CDR, then your laser is most likely the culprit.

yes to Dvdr and Cdr,do you still think it's the laser.All princo,ritek and everything else i throw at it for ps2 games work,it is only movies that won't boot.any more suggestions?Your help is appreciated.

Are you putting the chip into PS1 or disable mode? These are the only 2 modes that will play DVD movies.

Also, are you trying to use a DVD Region X disc or GS disc with it?

These are the steps I am taking to get the ps2 into Ps1/movie mode.

"Put DVD film into tray and power OFF the PS2 using the RESET button.

Power back on keeping the reset button held down till the blue EJECT light comes on.

PS2 is now in PSX mode and dilms/PSX games should boot.


To get the console back into PS2 mode, power the main switch on the back off then back on again."-thnx Mike

I am not sure how to disable it,is it the same sequence.If not,could you tell me.Also, would it help to use the DVD Region X disc or GS disc,like I said if i get lucky on like the third try booting it in the PS1/movie mode I may make it to the F.B.I. warning screen and then it stops and tells me it can't read the disc.If the Region X or GS disc will help it load I will get them,if you think it will help.thnx in advance.
