I have just got a dvd recorder and I haven't got a clue how to transfer a full dvd onto a dvdr. Can anyone tell me what is the most user friendly software to use for this purpose (ie idiot proof). Is there any software that will transfer a whole film onto one dvdr disc as opposed to having to use two disks.

Recommendations please

You only need 2 peices of software, DVDDecrypter and InstantCopy. With these you will have full 1:1 backups.

Others may recommend different software but InstantCopy wins for me because of the quality.

Not to complicate things for you WHITE_STEEL but as you might have guessed, sqeezing a 9GB DVD onto a 4.5GB DVD-R with menus, extras, etc is going to cost you a noticable quality loss. Now a number of people don't care about true quality of the main movie, they just want a half-arsed copy of everything ... Try one of each your first time around before you dive in. ;)

Oh and Instant Copy and DVD Decryptor get my vote as well. Add in IFOedit if you want movie-only with Instant Copy. :)

Get my vote too after the improvements with the last 2 updates to IC7.

I also use DVD Shrink to edit any extras/subs/audio streams out before I reduce the size with IC7, trust me it works a treat this way! :)

An excellent tool to use with IC7 is "Instant Copy Hidden Settings Editor" too and you can d/l that FREE here:- http://www.mrbass.org/instantcopy/ Excellent tutorial there too by mrbass.

If you are on a budget though then using the FREE DVD Decrypter + DVD Shrink from:- www.dvdshrink.org is easily your best bet. And to burn your DVDR's I think you will find most members here use Stomp RNM.
