Just installed my Pioneer 105 dvd burner and I am not even at the stage of trying to rip and burn a movie yet , all I want to do is use Nero to copy some mp3 files off my harddrive and put them on a blank dvdr as data files. It keeps rejecting my instructions telling me there is 'no unique joliet name' , does anyone know what this means and what I can do about it. I'm sure Im just being blonde :-)

Or is Nero the problem and if so what else can I use for straightforward data burning ?

Thanks in advance guys

It is an incompatible format. MP3s are generally done in the regular MPEG1 format and DVDs are MPEG2 encoded. I don't think you will get it to work without re-encoding it somehow. However once it is re-encoded the DVD Disc won't be able to transfer to a CD. I think you are out of luck on this one. SORRY!!!

Thanks for your help, but there must be a way as Ive bought a few DVD disks from people with mp3 files on and then transferred them onto my H/D from there

Give Record Now Max a shot. Much better program than Nero, especially later when you go into doing movie DVD's. Just select data and drag your files in and go. I archive Mp3's on DVD all the time, so I know it works fine.

You shouldn't have any trouble copying mp3's to a dvdr, I do it all the time with Nero, never had a problem yet.

Make sure you have latest version then follow this sequence in Nero's Wizard :

DVD/Compile New DVD/Data DVD/Create New Data DVD/Finish

Then navigate to your mp3 folder, drag your mp3's from the right window to the left window, click the Burn icon, select speed and Burn.

Even a blonde could do it :D
