Is it possible to create duplicates of a DVDXCopy produced backup, if the original disc is damaged? What is the best way to do this (can i just make a copy with recordNow Max or nero?) I figure you cant use dvdXcopy to make a copy of a DVDXCopy produced DVD.
I Appreciate the HElp

Since your backup is not encrypted, in theory you can just copy AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS (and all ifo, bup, and vob files underneath) and burn a data disk.

Of course you can still go the ripping route and use DVD Decrypter to rip in FILE or ISO mode.

Well I would strongly recommend ditching DVD X COPY anyway. DVD X COPY has some compatibility issues with DVD players (trust me I have seen it first hand). You could use DVD Decrypter if you wanted but Recordnow Max, Nero or Alcohol 120% will do the job nicely as well. Simply read the disc to your HD and write it back to your Blank DVD-R and you should have a perfectly good working copy. I hope this helps

Jesterace, Are you saying to not use DVDXCopy to make a first gen backup? If you are, how can you use nero, alcohol, or recordnow, to backup a dual layer dvd>4.7 gigs? I used DVDXCopy to make a backup of Equilibrium and it had to be on 2 discs, but dvdxcopy put the menu on both discs, and if i tried to acces something from disc 2 it would say "please insert disc 2". Will any other program do that?

Putting a movie onto 2 discs is way out of date, there are plenty of software packages that will do a 1:1 copy with excellent quality.

Pssst, one is even free but don't tell everyone. ;)

LOL.

I dont know about putting the film on 2 discs but nothing wrong with using IC7 to backup the film, fast and great quality.

I've been backing up movies for the past week and it has been working great. I've even been able to make a backup of a backup using the DVD disk copy function with on the fly copying enabled in Nero. I thought that I had some quality issues with this process but it proved to be the DVD player itself. This is only possible however if you ditch DVDXCopy. I would suggest that you go to the newbiee section and check out the following progs....

DVD Decripter
DVD2One
Nero
