I have downloaded about 7 Xbox iso's from 3 or 4 different sources and every game that i have, i [tried to] open it up in winrar to see the files inside, and i am getting some error saying:
"Location and Name of file
The archive is either in unknown format or damaged"
I have gotten this for everygame that i have download except one.
So, is this normal? if not, is there a way to fix it. I really doubt that 6 out of 7 games are corrupt as i got them from different sources.
BTW, the reason i am asking and not burning and finding out is that i do not have an xbox yet, i am going to order it today though, so i should have it in about a week.

You need to use a program like xISO or win iso to view the contents, although the iso has a winrar icon it won't open with it.

winrar will extract rar file to make the iso or break the iso up into smaller rar files.

like said above. use simplexiso to view the contents of the iso file. you can find simplexiso on xbox-scene.

the one that would read in winrar/isobust will not read in an xiso manager since it is a regular iso, so will i still be able to burn that iso to a disc and have it work on the xbox or will i need to convert it to an xiso?
Thanks

You should be able to burn any of those isos directly onto a dvdr/rw

Unless you are planning to edit the iso file, you need not worry about 'opening' the iso.

Simply download the rars, unpack with winrar, and burn the iso with DiscJuggler or Nero or any similar burning software.

this is right. but if its your first time i would use dvd-rw media to make sure you get the hang of it and confirm the media brand works for your xbox. it really sucks when you waste dvdrs. money wasted.

I use simple X ISO (not to be confused with Yursoft's buggy XISO program) and to extract the ISO and then use Recordnow Max for the burn.

Why extract the ISO, surely you just burn the ISO? :P

If you wish to put it on the harddrive (if you don't have a dvd writer) then just extract with xISO or some other ISO utility and ftp the files to your xbox.
