I was having some probs identifying which chip was installed in my xbox as when it was done i knew nothing about the whole process and didn't even think to ask the guy who installed it.
anyway, i found a program called BIOS Checker v2.09 and used it to find out exactly what was in there. it said.....
You are using a genuine <<EvolutionX V2.4>>
Chip type: LPC based (SST 49LF020)
now i know this will be an 'old' chip as i had it done about 9 months ago. but could anyone explain to me roughly what would need to be done to...
a. Update the bios, i'm positive it will be too old to flash from evox, so will it be something that needs to be done by a professional? (i haveno soldering experience.)
b. Update the EvoX Dash, in that do i need the new bios to run a new dash? i have a pretty old one at the moment v1.8.2594
c. Install a new hard drive, i have alot of hardware experience with computers, so taking one hard drive out and replacing it with another aint a big deal, and i know how to install everything back on, but will this require more than just a simple swap, or does it fall under updating the bios?
as you can see, i haven't updated anything since the chip was installed, but now with the newer games needing to be patched and so on, i would rather not have to do it if i don't have to.
thats about it i guess, sorry it ran a bit long, i looked around for answers but mainly just got confused. any help is appreciated muchly! :)
ps. sorry just one more thing, can anyone actually explain this chip to me? whenever i look for information about an EvolutionX chip, i can never find anything. so yeah, if i want to know stuff about it, what name should i be looking for it under?
