I have a ps2 model number SCPH-30001. I believe it is v4. I have a HP dvd300i dvd burner. I was wondering if i burn a copy of a ps2 game to a dvd+r will the ps2 read it. I plan on getin a mod chip but i need to know if the ps2 will even read the dvd+r's first.

It has been said that only version 5 PS2's and above can read DVD+R media. So, the answer would be no. But first make SURE yours is, indeed a version 4. Versions 4 and below usually only read DVD-R media, and quality brands only. I am unsure if a laser replacement would help it read DVD+R or not, but I do know the replacements are alot better than the factory laser, and the laser is the ONLY thing preventing the media from being read properly.
You might have an ugly chaoice to make if you do find yours IS a version 4:
1. Get a new laser and hope it reads the DVD+R
2. Get a DVD writer that burns DVD-R
3. Get a version 5 or higher PS2
4. Purchase DVD-R backups from another source

All of those are gonna be expensive, but I suggest the different format burner, it will save the most money in the long run.

Just get the PS2 Remote.. It comes with the newest DVD Drivers Ver 2.0 .

Yes, the drivers are on the disc that comes with the remote, BUT those drivers are for DVD movie playback only, and have nothing to do with how the laser reads a DVD-R or DVD+R disc. Laser readability is a physical problem, not a software problem.

Bottom Line: Some PS2s read DVD+R discs and some don't.
