copyright Jun 14, 2003, 09:49 PM Hey, im looking to acquire an eeprom/bios programer. The kind of chip im looking to program is an "32 DIP, type 29" I dont have any knowledge in this area and would like to know how I would go about doing this and where to get the equipment...
Thanks
uk_trader Jun 15, 2003, 12:03 AM Im in the same boat as you I dont know but I asuume the programmer would need a knowldge of machine code.
copyright Jun 15, 2003, 12:51 AM I wouldn't think it would be that difficult if you get the computer one..I think all you need to basically do is just select the .bin file (via a program) and flash...?
uk_trader Jun 15, 2003, 04:16 AM nah machine code you need to be qaable to talkdirectly to the pc all other programing languages need enviroments to run in.
Or do you just want to upgrade your bios?
On another note machine code isnt too hard to learn but what it does maybe.
copyright Jun 15, 2003, 02:02 PM I just want to flash it from a already made bios.
Ant212 Jun 15, 2003, 02:42 PM have a look at this link, it may be of some help.

copyright Jun 15, 2003, 03:24 PM Thanks for trying to help us, but None of those subjects helped me, I am aware of the hotswap method, and I searched before I posted for any related posts.
copyright Jun 15, 2003, 03:30 PM Hey, MasterMind..
Any input from you..?
MasterMind Jun 15, 2003, 03:40 PM Hey Copyright, Hot Swap is the one you are looking for. Else you need to find out actual EPROM Reader/ Writer equipment.
Details are at the end of this (http://www.cdrom-guide.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=246983) thread, if at all required.
MasterMind Jun 15, 2003, 03:46 PM Make hotswap first. Plug in the BIOS you want to copy. Run the flash utility written for the particular Mainboard in use. Save the BIOS contents to disk. Remove it again and put the fresh one in... now program this chip with the saved data. Make one thing sure while selecting Mainboard for 1MB or 2MB BIOS chip. It makes difference. Remember its a HOT process. ;)
Should not be a problem for you, since I have done it many times before. I don't have EPROM writer. :(
copyright Jun 15, 2003, 08:48 PM I was aware of the hotswap method, something which I do not inteed to do. I am trying to see what hardware/software/instructions are nessessry for the manually Eeprom Flash procedure. Thanks for trying to help though :round:
