I've read somewhere that it said a CD-RW can be erase about 1,000 times but that's is god darn it just a lie!!!!!!!! :D

man, i've just bought this whole memorex cd-rw package which has 10 disk in it and all 10 disk of them can only be erased around 7 times and it won't works anymore... it still can be erase by my cd-rw drive and still can be recorded but after that my cd-rw drive can read it at all, or it would take a very long time for it to be regconize...

and when i put it in my DVD player, my dvd player can play it but with pixalation problem or block problem.

anyways, after that, i've take a look under the writing surface of the disk and saw that a bunch of dots are around it. it's not like a scratch dot, it's inside the layer of the writing surface...

i thought this only happened to Memorex cdrw but when i try CD-rw, it still happen.. TDK cdrw is really a little bit better becuase it can be rewrite around 50 times and the disk start to have the same problem as teh memorex cdrw does...

so, anyone of yah ran into the same problem as i'am? anyone use cd-rw for vcd and kept on using that same disk to burn movies on? how many time can it be rewrite?

Anywhere between zero and a hundred. The dye used in CDRWs isn't as stable as those used for CDRs. All you can do is use them until they fail - when failure is likely to occur is anyone's guess

It mostly has to do with the maker. I have never had a cdrw that lasted over 16 erases and i buy the good brands. Memorex and TDK. If u have a cheap brand like GQ (great quality) probably 10 erases and it is done for.

Also if u take crappy care of it than it is wont last as much as if u were taking good care of it.

okay thx for all the great replies :D, anyways, i guess i'm heading to Fry's for those Sony Cd-rw which i guess it must be top quality since it's the most pricey... :Ds...

I guess this maybe capable of 100 - 200+ times of erase :D

I use memorex high-speed CD-RWs (rated 10x) and I have erased them dozens of times with no problems either in my burner/CD-ROM/DVD player.

I have some old school memorex CD-RWs (rated 4x) and have recorded and erased well over 100 times. I don't use them now because I was tired of the slow burning speed and upgraded to the high-speed ones. The only one I had to throw away was one that had a scratch on it.

Best bet, make sure you return the CD-RWs to their jewel cases instead of leaving them lying around, or stacking them up. They are much more sensitive to scratches and pits than CD-Rs

Yeah, those old school 4x memorex cdrw are pretty good... those 4x memorex with the big 1x - 4x label on the cdrw disk are very good... i haven't use any 10x memorex before becuase my cd-rw burner don't support it. anyways, have you ever tried out those new 1x - 4x memores cdrw?

find those memorex 1x-4x CDrw that doesn't has the number "1x - 4x" label on the disk...

those are very worst................ :D
