Hi people.

Great to post here again i was busy with all this extra crap a teenage has to go through anyway

I am running XP with a pretty old SONY CRX-140e. The burner is pretty good considering it is still burning but i sometimes get these errors off and on in Nero or CDRwin.

Heres whats happens and it usually happens when i burn a bin that has an SVCD on it.

On nero i load up the .cue like normal and start burning. Around when it get to 80% (sometimes 70% give or take 10) i get this weird buffer underrun error. I usually have 2 waste to cdrs in order for it to finally get done burning. So i tried the smart aproach and i extracted the video track and made a manual SVCD in nero. Same thing happens "Buffer Underun".

So i then try to use CDRwin(great proggie) gets to around 70% and i get this error "BLAH BLAH BLAH Bad Medium 0x0x0x" something like that i dont remeber off the top of my head. Same thing burn process fails and it never really is the same each time i do it sometimes it can go up to 89 percent sometime even 60. Whats the problem because i am loosing CDrs.

So what do i do. I find it weird that it only happens with SVCds of VCds. I burn a lot of ps2 isos and no problems help thankyou

Your burner may not like the layout of the SVCD discs. Have you tried extracting the MPG and then creating a new SVCD using NERO OR using Alcohol 120% OR Burning your image to adiffernt section of your H/D or even on a different H/D (eg if u have 2 H/Ds in your PC)

Also check your H/D for errors (do a scan disk)

Since the burner has no buffer underrun protection, I would lower the recording speed. Also make sure DMA is enabled on the drive. What's the system specs?

Yeah like stated above i have tried extracting the mpg with ISObuster and making a new one with NERO but i still get the same problem.

Now what is DMA Again? And What does it do exactly?

AMD 800mhz
IBM 18 gig hd
WIN XP
256 SD-ram
(i know not a real powerhouse but it gets the job done)

I got the cdrwin error

"Error:'WRITE' command failed on device 0:1:0
Read/Write error or bad medium detected (04h 00h 02h 03h 0Ch 09h)"

I just got it now and i turned on DMA and this was a ps2 iso i was burning not an svcd like stated before is my drive starting to die? Dont know what to do.

Also when i burned i freed up some things in my system on the ram to give it more space still nothing

Please help ASAP

In the sticky Audio Software Links in Audio Forum, there are some links that give you step-by-step instructions on how to clean the inside of a CD drive.

I believe you need to give your oldie but goodie burner a clean.

You have a CD cleaner? NO!!!!! You don't just only clean the laser lens, you will also need to learn the guts inside the drive.
