I have set up karaoke to run from my pc to my tv & hifi. New Geforce 4 graphics card works perfectly.

I have attached my sound card (onboard with 830ch jetway motherboard) to my hifi using 3.5mm jack from sound card to audio connection on my hifi (white/red) leads. My Aiwa hifi has a karaoke function.

Sound works perfectly until I plug a mike in. As soon as people start to sing, the sound of the karaoke music goes up an down like a yo yo at times.

I have used karaoke video tapes before in a similar fashion with no variable sound problems at all.

Is this caused by my sound card or are there some settings I need to adjust.

Thanks

Are you plugging the mic to the hi-fi or your sound card? should be into your hi-fi mate

Plugging my mic into the hifi, thats why I dont understand the sound variability!

Any other ideas?

it might be because your hi fi has a limiter on it, so when you on channel peaks it knocks the other down ie mic channel too high aux goes down

to be honest if i was you get your self an audigy platinum ex it has the best functions for you takes mic and also has some pretty good reverbs on...

I wonder if your hi-fi has an overdubbing feature on the mic. Thta is to say whenever you make a noise into the mic it cuts the volume of the music down.

Play a tune and listen as to when the music volume goes up and down. Is it just when you're making a noise into the mic? If so then it probably is the hi-fi actually working normally..it just lowers the volume of the music so that you can sing(????) over the top od the muic without blowing the speakers

Just to clarify. When singing into the mic, the volume actually goes up and then as soon as you stop singing the volumes drops again. Tapping the mic has the same effect?

Any ideas?

When using karaoke videos, the volume is constant.
