... because at this rate i think i could open a market stall.... heres my problem.

I use Windows 98SE, 600Mhz, 192mb ram system. Nero is my main burn software and i use 3 different types of disks.

The problem is that if i try burning at a faster speed then 4x, i get a brand new coaster.

My CD burner is a LG 12x 8x 32x and burning a cd at the moment takes 20mins..

I've increased the buffer memory in Nero to 80MB (Which it states should be the maximum)

I was wondering if Windows 98SE is too blame.

Any info would be greatful.

Regards,
Nick.

It's not a word it is an acronym. It stands for Direct Memory Access.

For win98, the option can be found under a devices properties.

Have you been through all the hints and tips in the guide here M8

trouble shooters guide (http://www.cdrom-guide.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=247968)

There are so many reasons for your problem, it may be a very long thread before its cured, if you can say i've done this, and this, and this, etc.. you take a lot of the initial guess work out

DMA and Aspi are a couple of the starter area's
