Hi There.

First of all thanks for this wonderful phorum.

I'm becoming crazy trying to write files in my CD-RW units using the drag'n drop system.

I have installed NERO burning rom, Alcohol 120%, InCd by Nero and Iomega hotburn pro.
My PC is a Pentium 4 @ 1.6Ghz with 256 RAM
My CD writters are a Creative 8432E (but the system regcognize it as a 8438E) and a external USB Iomega 5529EXT3-C USB.

I'll tell you the whole story:

I had installed Alcohol and Hotburn as well as Nero. Then, I installed InCD, because I'm very hapy with Ahead software and I thought everything would run smoothly with InCD.

With InCD, installed, I formated a blank CD-RW (Verbatim 2x4x), from the Properties-InCD- Format. I'm not verifying the check box to use the Mount Raininer feature, for my it's enough to use the UDF standard (I'm burning photos). After a long and succesful formating, when I check the properties right cliking on My PC -> CDRW Unit -> General Tab. it reads: FREE SPACE 0
USED SPACE= 535 MB

Clicking in the properties-> InCD tab I get:
Disk type=CD-R
UDF v1.50 InCD Can read but not record disks with this format (my primary language and my computer are Spanish, so probably hte messages are not translated exctly).

Moving to Properties->Recording Tab, I set the unit to record CD-WR.

Until here, things look fine (just a little bit nervous becasue the massage of "Unable to write"

Then I drag a folder to the creative unit, and received the following error message: "Windows does not accept this CD-RW format. If you want to use this disk, select ERASE THIS CD-RW"
Remember I have enabled the CD-burn form the recording tab in properties.

So, I went back to properties->recording and uncheck the CD burning option.
Again, I drag the file and I received this error message this time: ERROR COPYING FILE. ACCES DENIED. VERIFY THE DISK IS NOT FULL OR WRITE PROTECTED AND IT IS NOT IN USE"

Then, I followed the same steps for the Iomega CDRW with the same results.

Let me tell you that I uninstalled Iomega and InCD, reinstalled InCD and followed the same procedure with the same results.

SO, what do you think it failing. I think if I try to drag and drop with CD burniong properties enabled, WIndows takes control of the burning procedure and don't recognize the format of the disk. If I turn off hte CD burning capcities of the unit, InCD takes control but Windows deny the acces to the disk.

I've been three days (and nights) :zombie: working on this: erased, formated and erased again the disks without any good result.
Help me please, because I'm going to kick the PC and burn the CDs in the stove! :furious:

ANy assistance will be very welcome.

Best regards from Huatulco, Mexico.

Go to your CD\DVD drive properties and turn OFF "Allow recording on this device".

InCD will work properly.

Thanks for your quick response, but I have tried that. I went beyond and modify the properties of the CD unit on the Windows Registry, to be identified as a CD-ROM (not a writer). The complete instructiosn to modify the registry can be found at <http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;316529>, very helpful if your CD writer is not identified by windows. It did not work eiither. So finally, I decided to uninstall In CD and reinstal Iomega HotBurn pro. O downloaded a patch for their website plus a utility and now I can drag and drop files, modify, delete or save directly on my Creative CD-RW pretty well. Only if I try to copy Carpets with several carpets inside, the system hangs up.
So InCD was not fine for me (I really wanted to use it because Nero Burning ROM works very fine and I thought InCD will also, but it did not.

Keep in touch.
