Hi there, I have an LG GMA-4020B 2X DVD burner. I'm using Nero and when I want to backup data files on my DVD-R disks, it asks me before I burn if I want to use mutisessions, and if so, some DVD burners won't read any sessions after the first one. Now unless I close the session(s), I can't read the DVD-R disks at all and I don't want to close the session(s) until the disk is full. The thing is that it only reads my first session on the disk when I close it out, so is there any way I can use a multisession DVD-R without having to worry about losing any sessions I burn after the first session? Is there a better DVD-R/RW burning program that will let me do this and use multisessions so that when I close the disk after it's full I can read all the data on the disk? Also, for example, if I have 4 sessions on the disk, is there a way to read the DVD-R without having to close the disk first? Whe Nero burns a multisession disk, it can't be read until I finalize the disk, but it only reads the first session anyway.:( If anyone has info on this, please let me know. Thanks!

I don't think it’s got anything to do with burning software, like Nero says it’s the DVD readers that have the problem.

DVD and multisession just don't go together. I tried it when I first got my 104, I thought DVD-R would be great for backing up my MP3 files but I also found that only the first session was accessible.

I know this is an old thread but I have similar questions regarding multi-session DVD.

I am still using Win 98 and using Nero Express 6. Nero warns about multisession DVD not being able to be accessed by older OSes (prior to Win XP) and some DVD readers.

Does it matter if it is DVD-R or DVD+R discs? Neither support multisession?

So the only way I get multisession is to use DVD-RW or DVD+RW??

I am in Canada, all DVD-RW s or DVD+RW s that I have seen are made in Taiwan. I prefer those made in Japan or by Taiyo Yuden (except some DVD-R s but if I can't use multisession......... then they are useless for me!). Does Taiyo Yuden make any DVD-RW or DVD+RW media or can anyone recommend any DVD-RW or DVD+RW brends that are made in Japan or by Taiyo Yuden. Data archival life is the utmost important thing for me.
