dragon-2000 Jun 22, 2003, 05:24 PM but i just burned a dvd film on a pionner 104 with datasafe reds
half way through the films picture and audio are jumping and stuttering
and frankly unwatchable,
i was useing nero before but someone said change my software which i did and its still the same
Arthur.P.Ness Jun 23, 2003, 12:02 AM Yeah mine are doing same - used DVD shrink 2.3 and the quality is great till last 10 mins of the film, then it stopped, started, skipped, stopped, started etc
Figured it might be my cheap DVD standalone (Acousitc solutions) as sometimes it coughs and splutters with retail DVDs, but glad to see it's mot just me having bother (don't take that the wrong way).
Using Nero to burn em - anyone suggest a different method of shrinking/un macro/burning?
cheers
jesterrace777 Jun 23, 2003, 01:25 AM I just started using DVD Shrink 2.3 and haven't had any issues with it. I am using Recordnow Max V4.5 to burn them though. I simply have a VIDEO_TS folder (where all of the files go) and an AUDIO_TS folder that is empty (since some people have reported that DVD Players won't recognise the disc without one). I am using Ritek DVD-R though which is a much higher quality media than the Datawrite Reds. You might want to try switching to a better media brand (Ritek dye is considered by many to be the best) and see if that doesn't fix your problem.
Shimerin Jun 25, 2003, 12:34 AM Using nero to burn dvdr from vobs
I made the mistake of making the VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS folders manually and dragging the vobs into the VIDEO_TS folder and burning using a dvd data method of burning, with this process I got simular problems.
I was able to resolve this by getting Nero to make these folders and then dragging the vobs into the VIDEO_TS folder nero made, I have not had any problems since using this method.
Maybe this will solve your problems

Lazza Jun 25, 2003, 03:06 AM AFAIK the 4X Datawrite Red discs are not compat with the 104. You really should use only 1X & 2X media.
Try another disc, if you checkout a good media site like SVP for instance they display which writers the media will/wont work on next to the disc. ;)
dragon-2000 Jun 28, 2003, 10:26 AM well 4X Datawrite Red discs are not compat with the 104 but i only burn them at 2x
even tryed burning at 1x but get same resalts?
anyone else haveing probs with these red datasafes useing a a04?
if not what firmware u useing? as my a04 has the 1.20 firmware
PhilEnfield Jun 28, 2003, 11:41 AM As Lazza says, it's your media.
Try a good quality disk, like a Ritek, Red Top datawrites are probably one of the worst disks ... Princo cheapie and the 104 was never designed for 4x media, even if u r trying it at 1x or 2x
dj alex Jun 28, 2003, 12:08 PM as they say use a good disc with ritek dye . you only get what you pay for.
try a firmware update this may also resolve some of the issues
Indiana Jones Jun 28, 2003, 03:52 PM Nothing wrong with Datawrite Red Tops as long as you use them on a 4x Burner, ritek are good but I havent had a bad disc out of my last 300 red tops.
yinyan Jun 28, 2003, 04:04 PM agree with indi nothing wrong with red tops at all - they work like a charm
jesterrace777 Jun 28, 2003, 04:13 PM Well it also all comes down to what your DVD Player will read. A number of Players read the Princo dye discs just fine but there are some that won't.
dj alex Jun 29, 2003, 02:40 AM my point exactly i sell to lots of peeps ,the only time i ever have any comebacks is if i change from ritek dye to princo dye.
what im saying is the ritek dye is more compatible with more makes of standalone dvd players

MrBean2002 Jun 29, 2003, 06:44 PM Definently a media problem, i had this issue with Bulkpaq(same Princo dye) the quality would be good until the last 10-20 minutes when it would just freeeze up. I read somewhere that as the outside of the dic is reached the substances in the dye are weaker and more suseptable to scratched or inperfect recording. That would account for the reason why only the last few mins freeze as the laser reaches the outer edge of the disc. Hope this helps

DvdrUK Jun 29, 2003, 08:28 PM agreed
i use red tops allllll the time but i use either a a05 or TEAC 4X
try using datasafe yellow 1X or grey 2 X the greys are top notch
rd350ypvs Jun 29, 2003, 08:58 PM If you can get hold of the greytops that is
andyw
Indiana Jones Jun 30, 2003, 06:54 AM SVP stocks the Grey Tops.

i like disc 2 nice chic, but not sure on her quality lol:D
Indiana Jones Jun 30, 2003, 09:51 AM I have never even seen them before but there isnt anything wrong with datawritre red tops unless you got some which were part of the bad batch that was going around a few months ago, they were terrible then.
Also, ritek are under £1 so not that expensive.
dj alex Jun 30, 2003, 11:17 AM stick with ritek
