First off I know it's not free like shrink etc, but that aside (and the fact it cant do CCS) what are the end results like i.e pic quality compared to the other 1 click merchants?

Cheers

Most of us who tried it out were pretty disappointed with the results (quality wasn't the greatest) and honestly it really isn't that much easier to use than the newest version of DVD Shrink (2.3). I had all sorts of problems with Clone DVD and none whatsoever with DVD Shrink. That and you have more options with DVD Shrink.

Well I bit the bullit and gave it a bash.. must say I'm impressed it worked well and didn't take too long. 30 mins to crunch a 7.3 gig dvd 15 mins to burn ... everything worked as it should and the pic was fine. Not enough going for it to warrant the cost over the free DVDshrink but if you like the Clone brand then it's as easy as abc.
We're spoilt with whats available now thats the problem :-)

Think Ur Thinking Of CloneCd M8 Due To The Fact Clony XXL Is'nt Needed For Dvd Copies

I might aswell have my say

CloneDvd : Pants, Only Movies Not Ps2 Bit C**** That Really

DvdShrink : Amazing Not One Coaster Or Problem After Over 1000 Retailed Backups Must Say Its The Best Available And Its Free

CloneDVD still has it's use right now.

For burning files processed by DVD Shrink/DVD2one. After testing some DVDR's burned by Stomp in CD/DVD Diagnostic I was shocked by the amount of errors reported. (Even though the error reporting by this soft can be a bit OTT at times)

So I then tried CloneDVD just to burn the files and lo and behold the errors shot down and most discs are reported to be 100% perfect.

The only thing is CloneDVD creates the VIDEO_TS folder for you and you do not get an option for adding an empty AUDIO_TS folder. But hey, that means nothing really as the finished discs should playback on 99.9% of DVD players.

They have already released several updates, I am sure if you emailed them they could add an empty AUDIO_TS folder.

Dvdruk

You slate Clone for not doing PS2 and praise Shrink which as far as Im aware isnt much cop for PS2 either ???

As I said due to the fact Shrink is free and a little more flexible Clone does not warrant a purchase BUT shrink is not the be all and end all.
I hav the upmost respect for the coder especially as it's free and that is extremely rare these days as IMHO it's good enough to warrant a fee. But lets not get carried away here. IC7 still just nudges ahead in the quality stakes and CCE/Ifoedit etc though not a 1 click solution will absolutely trounce all the 1 click backup software without pausing for breath.

Nah, Olli seems convinced that an AUDIO_TS folder has no place on a DVD from what he has been saying over at CDFreaks. Maybe he has a good point with the DVD players of today.

I have found dvdshrink to be the best, its user freindly, its free, and it works.

I have done hundreds of backups with it and have had zero trouble.

Some Players Dont Read Them Well with No Audio folder even tho it is bare

I could only find one post where Olli said this From my knowledge the AUDIO_TS folder is no requirement for Video DVDs.

Well, I can't see it doing any harm in having it there, so I am sure if people wanted it, he would add it.

Then again, you are the one who bought it up and I don't see you complaining.

No I'm not complaining.

Works fine without that for me and on every DVD player I've played them on so makes no odds really.

It's just there's still this school of thought offered by many that you must have an AUDIO_TS folder on the disc. Do you see it as a requirement btw?

Requirement???? Maybe Due To Some People Who Paid Like £240 For A Dvd Player The Week They Come On The Market, Just To Find Out That It Does'nt Play Half The Things It Should Do IE VCD, SVCD And Dvdr With An
EMPTY Folder....

Don't Really Understand Why Some Players Don't Read Them Good, They Just Don't

Well Olli has decided to add one after all now, if people bought a decent DVD player in the first place he need not have bothered. lol http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/a0/biggrintongue.gif

I have found Clone DVD to be better than DVD Shrink, and DVD2one. I have made full disc copies of DVD's over 7GB with all of them and looked at the picture quality. DVD Shrink and DVD2one were patchy and pixalated in full disc copy. Where a scene is quite dark the picture with DVD Shrink and DVD2One is blocky and judders a bit on close inspection. Yeh Clone DVD isnt free or particulary cheap, but it's very good. Many people have tested the Beta version and reported back that it wasnt very good, but the full version is totally different.

Is there much point in getting CloneDVD if you already have IC7, DVD2one and DVD Shrink as none of them give me problems and if I want top notch quality I always go with IC7, gives great results.

Also, AUDIO_TS folders are not needed, if you check original retail dvds nowadays, alot wont have the folder, just VIDEO_TS.

IC7 will not work for me even with the update it continues to crash every time. The update is supposed to speed up the processing time though, but it's never got that far for me to test it. I have used CCE for a while, and it gives better results than any of the DVD compressors, but takes 10 times as long. I have tested all of the DVD compressors and without using complicated technical reasons Clone DVD looks less pixelated, blocky, and juddery than the rest.

After burning a few dvd's without a AUDIO_TS folder, I have found that my standalone dvd player will not play the discs at all (this might be different for DVD Rom users). It comes down to hardware compatabilty. So at the end of the day it's better you keep it just in case.
