My bro has just bought a canon powershot a70 which i think is very good- really good features fairly cheap and cos it uses aa batteries rather than proprietary batteries and compact flash (1) cards its relatively cheap to run relative to cameras that use their own batteries and cameras that use the newer types of memory card.

I want to get one as well- but thinking i may go for the Ixus 400 (ELPH 400 in america) as it is a fair bit smaller- but a little bit more expensive- read a few reviews for it just wondered if anyone with an ixus 400 can recommend that model.

My bro got a good deal in some memory cards so hoping to get a camera which takes compact flash and canon seems the one brand that uses them

thanks for any help guys

I have an IXUS 400, & its an excellent little camera.

Checked all the other cameras in its class, but the IXUS 400 is definiatley top of the list. Its Robust, small, 4 million pixels, video with sound, looks fantastic & is easy to use.

Paid around £350 for mine with a 32mb compact flash card.
