I have a Cendyne 52x24x52 cd-rw drive first off. I used "fuji film" CDR's about 10 of them they all worked fine. Then I started getting a "no seek compleate" On programs such as Nero , Alchohol 120%, blindwrite ect. SO I Looked into the error and found out that this could be caused by the CDR's not being compatable with the drive. So I tried 3 other brands (kodak, Verbatim, and Memorex) all worked correctly then I treid two more fuji CDR's both of them got the same "no seek" error. So the question I have is how is it that the CDR's worked fine then stoped working on the same drive what could of caused this change or, is the drive itself problematic?

It's due to the variable quality of some brands of discs. You may get a 'good' batch that your burner is happy with, while another batch of the same brand may not be accepted.
As burners get older and dust accumilates on the laser you may find the burner gets more fussy. If it becomes a big problem you can always try cleaning the burner: http://www.deinmeister.de/cdrep_e.htm

Not an odd problem at all - from my experience (I do alot of DJ/Remix type work using CDR's) I can tell you that I bought 2 stacks of Fuji once and had problems with over half of the first ten that I used in both stacks - I've never had such an experience with any other brand. I usually don't even get one bad disc out of a stack of 50. If you find a brand that you are happy with - stick with it and try not to be tempted by "good deals"

It really depends on what burner you have. My trusty old Plextor 121032 will accept any disc I care to throw into it so my only consideration when buying discs is price. However not all burners are that forgiving, it's all about finding discs that are reliable for you.

Hmm Thanks for the responces. the only reason I thought it was odd at the time because I have burned 500+ cd's with this burner without a hitch. The 50 pack I bought first ten worked then about 25 bad. I took one off the botton of the stack and, what do you know it worked. Thanks for the reponces again. I think I will stick with Memorex in the future.

This is not entirely true.... a good, reliable, cheap brand is Verbatim's... I have used these for a LONG time, and the only problem I have had with them is do to user-error  Even these will sometimes work in older drives that state that they do not read CDR disks.

There is a difference between price and quality...... and they are not always related either....

Just to let you all in on this but the company sent me a reply after all this time. What they told me worked and now the CD-rw's that did not work work. Well atleast nero can burn with the cd's..... Nero Burning Rom v5.5.10.42 seems to of fixed teh drives problem and all the cd'rws work but only with nero hrm...
