crazyjoe_uk Jun 25, 2003, 09:17 AM Hi all,
I have backed up my Enter The Matrix on Xbox, but it won't boot.
I have FTP'd the files from my original, and then created an ISO from xIso,
burnt with Nero. When I put it in the xbox, the xbox logo comes up, and the screen flicks to black (as it does just before booting) then nothing at all.
I have seen some post around the web about it being too big to fit on a DVD-r, but Nero seems to have burnt it ok (or maybe not!).
I have an Xecuter 2.1 chip, version 1.1 xbox, 4977 bios for Xecuter chip,
and the latest EvoX dash.
I am using a Sony DVD +- DWU (something like that) writer, and Datasafe
4x dvd-r's
I have made several succesful backups, but this one and Shenmue II (Exactly the same thing happening) are proving a bit difficult.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Joe
crazyjoe_uk Jun 25, 2003, 10:07 AM Sorry all,
I had searched through the main forums looking for this before, but have noticed that someone wrote it needs patching to run correctly. Will try this first.
Sorry again!!
crazyjoe_uk Jun 25, 2003, 10:28 AM Ok, don't like talking to myself really! But just reading about patching the media flags, i have a BIOS from 16/06/03 and would imagine this "fix" would have been included with the bios release?
Alexoi Jun 25, 2003, 11:07 AM You can either use the hddloader program to copy it or copy it to your pc hd, apply the Project x patches and copy back to the xbox hd. Using the hddloader will also patch the game as well.
crazyjoe_uk Jun 25, 2003, 11:12 AM I only have the 8 gig HD in the Xbox, and so would really want to burn back to DVD-r. Would just applying the Project X patches and copying them to a dvd-r work the same?
Also, never heard of Project X, any link to a site with these would be cool.
Thanks for your help so far
Alexoi Jun 25, 2003, 12:06 PM If you want to play it on the dvdr, then you have to download the dvd5 rip. If you have the original game, copy them to your pc hd, delete these movie files (in vid ext.)
g89_n.vid
g51_s.vid
g89_g.vid
now, find the atari.vid and copy it 3 times to a tempory folder. Then rename the atari vid files to those 3 files you deleted. Copy them back to the original location. Now it will fit on a dvdr disc.
Irish62 Jun 25, 2003, 12:29 PM could you not put on hdd using pxhddloader ,ftp across , burn game , and delete off the xbox hd?
Alexoi Jun 25, 2003, 02:07 PM It is too big and it won't fit on a dvd disc
crazyjoe_uk Jun 26, 2003, 06:25 AM Cheers, will try your tips Alexoi.
Did think that Nero (and then DVD Decrypter that i tried last night) would have said it was too big, but I'll give it a go.
Thanks both for your posts.
develitate Aug 05, 2003, 05:53 AM Does changing those 3 files change/effect the game in any way?
Devil-Man Aug 05, 2003, 01:10 PM you'll lose a couple of cut scenes. but if you apply the patches, chances are you will lose sound on some levels. ETM cannot be copied to the hard drive in any way, some files won't go as the file names are too long.
arthur_p_huxake Aug 05, 2003, 01:51 PM develitate, nah, it just cuts past the scenes in question by playing the atari.vid instaed
devil-man, long filenames can be edited to shorten them, and the default.xbe can be hacked in much the same way!, just open it in a hexeditor and search out those long names, rename and pad out with zeros so as not to fuk up the offsets...altho i took the easy option and just used attreu's pal patch (batch to rename files and a replacment default .xbe). but the game _can_ be hacked to play from hdd or disc!

Devil-Man Aug 06, 2003, 02:36 AM yeup what he said ^^ i run mine from hdd with the patch and some boards don't have any sound and it's a pain. a straight copy from D drive to dvd-r works excellent though.
