So I read from someone on another board that they just used their Matrix Modchip for "flashing TSOP" and take their chip right out after doing so. I have a few questions.

1)What is "flashing TSOP"?

2)After "flashing TSOP", is there any other reason to have a modchip inside if you're only interested in playing backups?

3)Does "flashing TSOP" and removing the modchip provide better protection from anti-mod detection in Xbox Live games? Or does it not matter, since Microsoft could just check for official bioses?

Thanks.

1) xbox's motherboard (like all motherboard) has its operation program know as Bios. this bios is programmed to run anything which is assigned by Microsoft. Flashing this to a modified bios, it can run assigned and unassigned code. i.e. homamade games, application, backups etc.

2)same as above. You can take out you modchip after you flashed your TSOP. And the xbox will run everything from original to backups. Because you jumper the TSOP for flashing you can anytime update the bios when needed, but if your update goes wrong then you'll need to install a modchip to bring it back to life and reflash. Best chip to use is the Matrix.

3)Do not use LIVE if your TSOP is flashed with a modified bios cos LIVE only want to see if you booted with M$ original bios.

Also the TSOP flash only works on a V1.0 XBOX.

Not true, you can flash v1.1 and v1.2 TSOPs with a Homebrew Chip

I think that you can still use LIVE if you your TSOP is split into 2 (half mod/half retail) and a switch can be installed to toggle between modded and unmodded for use on LIVE. I personally flash my TSOP and prefer it over modchips, especially the Matrix. And if installing the switch to toggle between the split bioses works for Live (I haven't done this yet) it's even better.
