I'm after a cheap to run inkjet printer that has photo capabilities.

I currently have a HP 5550c and it's a fantastic printer, the problem is it drinks the ink like an alcoholic in a pub.

So i'm after a printer that is able to use compatibles e.g Epson.
But has the quality of the HP 5550c.

The problem with the epson stylus photo range is they now have memory slots in the side and i don't need that.
And a friend has the photo 915 and you'd have aged 10 years waiting on a print of a photo.

So here's what i'm after,

Cheap to run (uses compatibles)
Quality print outs (photo quality)
Fast printing.

The printer itself doesn't have to be a budget one.
And i was thinking of the Photo 950, but it's very expensive.

i use a epson C62 and i think the quality of print on photos is superb.
the replacement carts are only £4 each from here http://www.xscomputertechnology.freeserve.co.uk/

If you're looking for something better m8 you could look at the epson 830,i think carts for them are about £4 as well.

What's it like for speed?
And has anyone got a C82?

i can only compare it to my previous printer which was a lexmark 3200 and its much faster than that was and alot cheaper to run aswell.

i am in the market for a printer as well. i checked tomshardware and he did a review on the Canon I850. the specs looked great. you can find it in the US for $130 shipped. check it out. it may be what you are lokking for.

now they have a review of the I950. its slightly better than the I850, but its about $100 more.
