son of thunder Jun 28, 2003, 06:05 AM I have been burning cdrs for quite some time now with my plextor 8/4/32A and have had hardly any coasters. Up untill recently I have had no real need to use cdrw. Anyhow just purchased new pack and none of the disks will burn just trying to put simple data on the disks just get an error and it chucks it out. But when I try burning the same data on cdr it works fine any ideas?
celtic_druid Jun 28, 2003, 06:43 AM What kind of CDRW's are they? Are they 1-4X or highspeed ones?
Insomniac Jun 28, 2003, 06:58 AM Also, what software are you using? Have you tried a different brand? More info would be helpful.
son of thunder Jun 28, 2003, 10:58 AM sorry forgot to add that the cdrwsare datawrite 12x but I have tried writing at all different speeds using nero, winoncd and the normal xp drop and write method also tried tdk cdrw
celtic_druid Jun 28, 2003, 02:33 PM I would suggest gettin some 1-4X ones.
son of thunder Jun 28, 2003, 04:13 PM well the tdk ones are 4x and there causin me problems as well
son of thunder Jun 28, 2003, 07:01 PM When trying to burn cd i get the error write protected
BlackWar Jun 29, 2003, 02:10 AM Try doing a full erase/format on them first. It is vary rare, but some cdrw's come as "not formated", which means that you have to do a full format on them first before you can use them. Give it a try once and let me know how it goes.
celtic_druid Jun 29, 2003, 06:30 AM Most I would think would come unformated. Keep in mind the difference between formating and erasing. You only need to format for packet writing.
BlackWar Jun 30, 2003, 09:00 AM actually, there are CD's that need to be formated (a full erase) before they can be used, I know because it has happened to me.
celtic_druid Jun 30, 2003, 09:08 AM A full erase is not formating.
BlackWar Jul 01, 2003, 08:59 AM oops, a mistake on my part. But, the fact does not change any, that there "were" cdrws at one point in time that needed to be formated before they can be used. I should also mention that the last batch of CDRW's that I have bought was about 5 years ago, and what brand it was I do not remember (their burn speed was so horrible that after about 6 months I got rid of em), but I do agree, because I have bought a 2nd set not long after that from a different brand and they were ready to use right out of the box.
