Ok. Ya know how u can do Start>Run and type in various commands and have them execute progs? Like if i goto Start>Run and type "calc" the calculator will run. Same withe some other programs ("nero" opens Nero, "mspaint" opens paint, etc) altho its mostly just the built in windows progs that work, some others do as well (such as Nero.) What i wanna know is if there is a way to config the comp to set up 'run commands' to open ne thing i want w/ programmable 'words.'

I hope yall understand my ? and will help me out!

Thx

I dont know if this will help. You can create batch commands (.bat) in the o/s by right clicking on the desktop and selecting New Text Document. Inside this file, you can place the program or programs you wish to run. You must have the executables exact path enclose in " ". If you want to run more than one program at once, each one must have a seperate line. On the last line type exit without any " ". Rename the file to whatever you like, as long as the extension is .bat. Windows will warn you but just click yes. Right click the icon you created, and select properties. and select the program tab. Tick close on exit. You could also change the icon if you like. This only works in dos, so if you have Xp, you can still create the same file, but you would need a program like Winx 32.

I got it working, it was actually very easy. Just create a shortcut to the exe and cut/past it in to the system32 folder and rename it to what ever u want the run command to be.

Thx tho.

So after I typed everything no one wants to know about dos, all you wanted was a shortcut?

somethin 2 try... most of the "run" commands r from the windows folder... so im thinkin that if u were 2 put an icon 2 the prog u wanna run in the windows folder... hey its worth a try... if that dont work u might have 2 put the prog's .exe file in there and edit the file 2 run from the folder the prog is actually in... does ne of that make ne sense??? hope so cause i think i confused myself... lol... let us know what ya find out... thankz and good luck
