And in case you didn't get it, no you can't just convert the wire, you will need to upgrade your gfx card.

After reading this post, I've decided to convert my Microwave into a superserver.

Great idea - say, while you are at it why don't you shove a USB cable on it and stick it into a laptop :hdspin:

Sorry m8, I thought you already had the freeware that converts the freezer into a laptop - I'm sure there's someone around who'll supply the link :)

Baturkin17,

After all of this ribbing, you deserve some help. :)

A TV set is unsuitable for a monitor because the resolution is too low and it uses an inferior (interlaced) scanning system.

A TV connection is useful, though to watch movies played from a computer. In this case, the TV viewing is of normal quality.

If your TV has an RCA video input jack, you could use an add on PCI card such as the ATI RADEON 7500 64MB PCI (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=manufactory&manufactory=1126&catalog=48&DEPA=1&sortby=14&order=1) to connect it to your PC. This card supports using two monitors simultaneously and also has a video (TV) out RCA jack.

Newegg has this card for $78 with free shipping.

Yes the ATI Radeon 9600 Pro does have a S-Video TV out connection jack. If your TV doesn't have a S-Video input but uses a RCA input jack, you will need a S-Video to Composite Video adapter for the card.

It also has VGA (standard monitor) and DVI-1 (LCD Flat Panel) outputs. The DVI-1 output can use a VGA adapter to connect a second VGA monitor simultaneously.

The Radeon 9600 (http://www.ati.com/products/radeon9600/radeon9600pro/specs.html) is listed on the same link at Newegg that I gave you in my last post. It's $178 with free shipping.

Yes, you would need this adapter to convert S-Video to composite (RCA) video out. You may be able to get one at a good price from a local store that has electronics supplies instead of ordering it from ATI.

ATI wants $5.00 for the adapter and it certainly isn't worth more than that. But they also want $10.00 to mail it and that's a rip off, pure and simple.
