I am also with blueyonder on 2 meg broadband and see no reason as to have an ip that doesn't change. The reason for change is for your security and is about every 4 to 6 weeks, no big deal, my ftp proggy picks up the change automatically. however, if you do not want the ip change, just phone blueyonder and ask them not to change it, they will oblige.:D hope this helps

Ask Blueyonnder if you can keep the current DHCP IP Addy and for them to turn it into a stat IP, they can then put it against the Hardware addy of your modem - don't know if they will do that or they might even charge

I'll throw in my 2 cents here. You have to have your isp change it as stated, but I wouldn't do it. I have a static IP from my ISP, and I HATE it. I like the idea of it changing every month or so, just for added security. Other than doing FTP downloading or running one, I really don't see what the problem would be, but thats my opinion, and you have your answer.........like I said, just my 2 cents............

You lot might be interested in http://www.no-ip.com/ where you can have a free little proggy running in the background that keeps a (free) domain name up to date with your dynamic IP.
Example: I might be running an FTP server for my mates to download from, but my IP keeps changing. Instead I run the No-Ip demon and they give me a domain name so people connect to me by animalftp.bounceme.net instead of 217.121.120.121 and this program detects any IP change and updates their server accordingly.
Sorry for the crap explanation i've been at work all night.

Yep, sounds like the best of both worlds.
