As mentioned by Dave2986 make sure it isn't under warranty first. Also if you were using the 2x4all firmware hack you are going to need to get the 105 again as the 106 won't be able to write 1x DVD-R at 2x. BTW where do you live as that makes a huge difference with where you go to get a 106? (i.e. US, UK, ect.)

Its like $215 no rebates needed for a 106, try pricewatch.com

Okay why don't you try SVP then. Go to www.blankdiscshop.co.uk as they have one of the best track records for customer service and are competitively priced.

Alot of people like SVP but I have had a bad experience
I dont use SVP anymore. Ive ordered from them twice and they messed up my order both times.
They never even replaced the 2nd order :(
Maybe its because I was living in wales and delivery is not too good from there base.

Anyone see any good online reviews for it? I need another DVD burner.

Some people are currently having software trouble with it. Check out the DVD Forum for more info.

I was going to get a 106 but then found that Iomega are releasing a multiformat here (in OZ) next month which includes DVDram.

Yeah, I forgot about the triple format drives which are coming out. For a while there it seemed like DVD-RAM was going to die as a format but it seems to be on the rebound.

Well I bought one from Microsuperstore (www.microsuperstore.com) with 100 2x speed Burn Star discs. The discs are guranteed to work on the Pionner 106 and hopefully discs will mean that drive pays for itself
