OK here is the dilly, I got my ps2, version 1, almost as soon as they came to america, and i put the very nice magic 3.1 in it, and it works just fine for cd-r games, now my question is, WHY CAN'T I PLAY DVD-R's????? The dude i sent my ps2 off to that put in my mod chip said it worked just fine, the laser was just fine and it had direct boot on the dvd-r's, i have downloaded nero, recordnow max, alcohol 120% and reigstered with nero and alcohol, and i got 2 useless sony disks, i am using a Toshiba sd-r5002 and i upgrade the firm ware, and looked over the net for guides and a little bit of help and can't find it, ephemeral fantasia is what i tried to back up both times:confused:

some cds might not be able to take 800 MB CDs as well..so be aware of that

Does it still play original DVD games?
Only ask because your PS2 is getting on a bit now to be honest and the early lasers weren't particulary good at reading CD-r/DVD-r e.t.c.

well, i burn at 1x for dvd-rs and 4x for cd-rs, and my originals boot up just fine no probs at all, all of my cd-r games, (70+) work just fine, and i regularlly clean the system to avoid dust build up adn stuff that might hurt the laser. But waht about brands of dvd-rs work best? and does color on the bottom of the disc mean anything?
