TDK 420N Indi DVD is DVD+R Vs Cendyne 105 is DVD-R. I am mainly interested in backing up my collection of PS2 and DVD movies. I addition I would like one that will give me the least problem in compatibility with cdroms and dvd players. Thanks guys for your replies. They basically the same price. Who has a DVD writer that has a format of DVD-R? How does it work for you? Are you satisfied, happy or sad?????

well.
With the - you get a little more compatablity. Also cheaper. Also better for PS2 to my knowledge.
+R. May just be the future? Prices are coming down. May become more compatable in the future. Maybe not to all tho.
Right now it's a tough call. Thats why the multi- format +/- R Recorders are becoming so popular at the moment.
May not be as cheap, but look into the DVR-106 or a SONY if the +/- R situation racks your brain too much

At that price it is probably the OEM 106. Didn't know they were that cheap though. I'm personally content with - format. Provided you use quality media you will find it universally compatible for everything listed in the original post. With the price on the dual format Pioneer 106 being so cheap you might want to go with it instead of the 105. The cheapest I have currently seen the Cendyne is $190 at tigerdirect.com. In either case I would strongly advise against getting a "+" format only drive (TDK). The media is a bit more expensive and as mentioned you might run into comatibility issues with your PS2. So either get the dual format 106 or the Cendyne 105.

I think I saw the Pioneer 106 for $214.00 now, but you're right that is just a white box unit, no software, for the amount of $3 they include software :-)
