please dont have a go at me, but can I ask the following;
Now I realise there is already a thread or two on this subject, but for me, at least it confuses me, so can someone tell me the combination of drives that will allow you to read and burn cdg discs and tracks, from file. I guess this is aimed at people that already have a similar set up. Out of all the software available I would prefer to be able to use cdrwin and mp3g toolz.
I would only want a normal writer not dvd at this stage.
I have seen there has been alot said about Liteon and what it can cant do;
( is there a liteon drive that can do all that I ask ) So can someone please list 2 100% no doubt drives that can do the above with the software mentioned, or is it just a case of buying plex writers in bulk!!!!!!!!!!!
Inview that they are discontinuing them.
If answers can be related to tried, tested and successful setups only, I might get away without annoying some people as similar has been asked before, but for my own peace of mind I need a more clearer posted answer.
If anyone can assist I would appreciate it.

Cheers

Bhd has the bulletproof answer but if you have a non compaible burner and just want to dabble with burning without spending then all I can tell you is I have no problems converting and burning mp3+g discs into cd+g using my LG burner at x24 using mp3gtoolz to convert and make a cue, then latest Nero to burn, no need to mount. I can then play back using LDplayer.exe to check them but Plextor is the one to go for if you are starting from scratch and not much dearer than a Liteon on Ebay.

Sorry guys I am using a plextor, I guess I was over panicing with the latest news on here that the plextor is to cease being made, having said that I do realise they will be around for a while yet before they toatal dry up,
but I wanted to know the alternative, hence my post, mind you by then some one else might of made one that supports cdg, maybe?
Thanks for your input though guys appreciated.

Rab....for what it`s worth, my setup is as follows: I still have my original SONY 4x4x24, that still works extremely well, even after 2 years, but use that now mainly for reading CD&G discs as my other CDRW, a LITEON 48x12x48 won`t read CD&G, but is faster at burning. I use the same software as yourself i.e MP3&G TOOLZ and CDR WIN. I normally create the BIN files, then using CDR WIN, just import the files and burn to the LITEON. I could burn to the SONY if I wanted, but I`m trying to keep that for a backup `cos they SONY`s are so reliable. Hope it helps m8. By the way, thanks for Bob the Builder LOL...

BHD, Is that a plextor IDE CDROM to read CDGs? Didn't know that - thought it was just Scuzzy cdroms that could do it.

Hi Tim

Realise it might not be much help but
I use a plex 40/12/40A with cdrwin 3.9c,
seems to work ok, I usually only write at x8 speed.
I have ordered a 48, I hope this is OK.

The Plexy 40x reader is not and probably never will be supported by CDRWin due to the odd way it reads the sub codes.
If you want to use it to do full backups then Discjuggler or Clone or Plextools etc will do the job.

I'm sure my mate has a couple of 40x's, and he has no problem. I will check with him though. If you have a version of CDRWIN released BEFORE your plextor came on the market you might want to think about getting a more up to date version and trying that
