when i turn my computer it comes up with a message saying that - The Windows registery or SYSTEM.INI file refers to this device file, but the device no longer exsists.
How can i get rid of this? it also says something about a file called vsdata95.vxd.

Many Thanks. Ben

should do what most people do and not bother posting to these topics, but hey in the end we're all here to help it's just a shame that the 1st thing people do is post here instead of trying for themselves first.

BTW bcfcben no offence was meant by my post

Yeah I agree, I remember when I first started out in IT and I used to post in 100's of forums and annoy the living hell out of my colleagues....suppose though I got to learn that if I did not know something I should search for TID's, Knowledgebases and then ask

Yeah ditto (I used to pick the brains of a mate that knew everything), its really easy to fall into the trap of asking instead of making an effort for yourself ... and in the end he got fed up with me keep asking so I made an eff for myself, but not before I was told!

Thus endeth todays lesson

Simple thing is to open SYSTEM.INI in notepad and search for the given entry. If its listed there then put ; before the line. Save the file and close notepad.

If its not found in SYSTEM.INI then edit your registry using Start -> Run -> Regedit

In Registery Editor window press F3 and give the search string as vsdata95.vxd

When the entry is located, simply hit delete to remove it from the registry. Close the editor and restart the system.

Ive seen people shown simple tasks like right click a folder and they need telling over and over some people just cant grasp it.

No offence meant by this post. To be fair sys.ini isnt newbie stuff.

End of the day if someone tryed to teach me spanish I wouldnt have a clue.
