View Full Version : Problems with Cyberdrive writer

I've had this cyberdrive writer for around a 11 months to a year, and I haven't used it to burn too many discs, however I have used it to read also because my cdrom is dodgy and wont read multi session discs for example.

In the last couple of weeks I've had quite a few bad burns, cases where it says it's burnt a disc properly but the disc would be recognised as a blank in my Dreamcast or playstation, also times where it would not burn to a blank, as though the media was not blank.

Thing is it still burns o.k. sometimes, but the errors are getting to me because I lost some data that was important to me because I didn't figure out it had messed up some discs until recently, since Nero wasn't reporting any errors.

Do you think it's basically knackered? I was thinking that 11 months isn't long and I really haven't burnt as many discs as some people I know, although I realise using it to read must've had an effect.

Any opinions or similar experiences shared would be appreciated,

C

Try different media brands.

I did try different brands, however I did get more errors with one brand (and multi sessions) than the other. I was hoping that it was just a bad batch of cdrs but I have had problems (although less than b4) with the current batch I bought.

Also I wouldn't have wasted anyones time on here without first trying more than one make of cdr.

Thing is, it still reads discs perfectly, except for the messed up multi sessions, if it were completely knackered would I not also get read errors?

Thanks for your response.
