LiLViEtDuDe917 Jul 17, 2003, 08:06 PM Can the XBOX play VCDs/SVCDs/DVD-R/ such? Also, what is the best modchip out for XBOX right now? Jimbo Jones 2001 Jul 17, 2003, 08:32 PM The xbox can only play those if you have the Samsung drive as this drive can play any media :) Probably the best modchip is the matrix (i believe it doesn't need no soldering  ) LiLViEtDuDe917 Jul 17, 2003, 08:42 PM so the regular xbox drive cannot play those formats even though you have the mediaplayer and the modchip? TheCheekyMonkey Jul 17, 2003, 08:43 PM well apparently they can, like jimbo says, you do need a samsung drive to play cd-rs, although ive never had xbox media player play one sucessfully,, as it keeps crashing, i do understand that you need to configure xbmp though to get it right, also in my opnion get the xecuter modchip, as these are superior chips, and the newer ones 2.1/2.2 dont need soldering , my opinion though......................... redwolf Jul 17, 2003, 08:47 PM Originally posted by Jimbo Jones 2001 The xbox can only play those if you have the Samsung drive as this drive can play any media :) Probably the best modchip is the matrix (i believe it doesn't need no soldering  ) i think you got it wrong m8. if your reffering to CD-r then your first answer is correct. xbox can play these VCDs/SVCDs/DVD-R/ such, but not out of the box. after chipping you'll need to install an application called XBMP(XboxMediaPlayer) then you can play these media. Mod-chip to go for is Xecuter 2 ther are easy to solder and if you don't want to solder then get pogo pins add-on for these chip. If you search bit more you'll find more answer to your question where they all been asken many times before... probeater Jul 17, 2003, 08:49 PM I don't know about vcd's but I stream all my divx movies from my pc redwolf Jul 17, 2003, 08:56 PM VCD files is *.dat files... here the list from XBMP the media it plays: videos>nfo|rm|m3u|ifo|mov|qt|divx|xvid|bivx|vob|pva|wmv|a sf|asx|ogm|m2v|avi|bin|dat|mpg|mpeg|mkv|avc|vp3|sv q3|nuv|viv|dv|fli music>ac3|aac|nfo|pls|rm|sc|mpa|wav|wma|ogg|mp3|mp2|m3u pictures>png|jpg|jpeg|bmp|gif|ico|tif|tiff|tga|pcx LiLViEtDuDe917 Jul 17, 2003, 09:55 PM i know you need a modchip, but do you have to replace the drive? and what about the cdrs? so i only have to use cdrws? upur0 Jul 18, 2003, 11:05 AM you can use cdr if you have added a pc dvd drive or if you have a samsung xbox drive. that is the only way that you can play cdrs. check out xbox-scene.com's tutorials if you want to add a pc dvd drive. modchip doesn't really matter if you aren't going to use live. but the bios does, and the x2 4977 bios is the best. jackss Jul 19, 2003, 02:39 PM I play my vcds from bin format stored on the pc, but of course u have option of burning bin to cdrw if u dont have a drive that plays cdr. Jacks same goes for svcd divx etc... |
