I have Neo2.2 - and can't get my tombraider AOD backup DVDr to load...

Traditional DVDr boot method is either

1. AR v1.92 and DMC demo (equivalent to GS)

OR

2. SWAP MAGIC 2 DVD disc

I also have CDLoader burnt onto Cdr

Can anyone give detailed instructions on how to boot tombraider DVDr (backup of my PAL original using Prassi), using my AR2+DMC demo/SWAP MAGIC/CDLoader - whatever the combination may be?

Pls help!!

I have a neo2.2 and the US release of TR:AoD.

A direct backup won't boot, but the US version boots fine with GameShark & DMC if you install the P/N selector patch. Unfortunately, I don't think there's a patch for a PAL image.

Some posts have said that it will boot if you use the AR2 'with codes' option. But, I couldn't get it to boot on my system with codes enabled. Search this forum for other threads with specifics, if you want to try.

You can't use swap magic & CD loader. To use CD Loader for DVDs requires two 'reset button' swaps, which can't be done with neo 2.2.

wat do you mean by two reset button swaps. i amn tryin to load tr:aod, but wen usin dvd swap disc backup loads up with the blue background but doesn't load game. so i then looked up and bought the cd loader which as yet i cannot get to load, but hoping if i suss dat one out it will load using the method below.

1. load up swap magic cd v2.0
2.swap the magic cd with the cd loader
3. swap cd loader with dvd swap magic v2.0
4. then swap dvd swap magic with the backup game (tomb raider:aod)

this is supposed to get past the double protection.

wiseoldman!!!!! ive been trying this method and it doesnt work for me, just get an error message on the cdloader screen saying "invalid media"

Anyone know of a patch for PAL Tombraider AOD ??

wiseoldman -> I think your 4 step process is correct, but swaps # 2 and # 4 both have to be auto open/close swaps.

With no solder mod, flip top, knife method, etc. you can do multiple swaps. But, with neo 2.2, you have to release the reset button to trigger the tray open/close and you can only do that once.

Step # 4 will reach a point where CD loader says to do an EA method swap, but you've already released the reset button for the swap on step # 2.

ok is this right using swap magic

1. insert swap magic CD disc

2. do swap trick and insert CDLOADER disc then press x

3. select english on cdloader options

4. normally eject cdloader disc and insert swap magic DVD disc press eject again to make disc go in

5. when the cdloader screen says ps2 dvd in bottom L/H corner then do swap trick again and put backup in!!! THEN PRESS X

am i doing this right as i cant get TRAOD to work at all!!!!

So anybody know of a solution for the Neo2.2?

ive just got cdloader to go right through to trying to start the game (TRAOD) but the screen just stays black for ever!!!! and i mean ever anyone any further help??????

Try This, Boot ps2 with AR. select dave mirra bmx, start game with codes, when it says put in game swap for Devil May Cry demo. Give machine couple of secs then press x to start game, should get too many codes thing, then press O to go back take out ten codes (remove ticks) swap disk for TRAOD backup and then go back to start game WITH CODES. This time it should load the game.

I load TR on my no-solder like this:

1. Game Shark 1.93
2. Swap with GTA : Vice City original DVD (or something as big)
3. Select start game
4. Select WITH CODES (very important)
5. Swap in the DVD-R

For some reason, it wants to start with a code on this one. So I created a dummy code of all zeros on my GS, just so it wouldn't throw any slop into my game.

Are you using PAL or NTSC TR:AOD, patched or unpatched?

How are you doing swaps #2 and #5? - knife method/eject button/let go reset?

What chip are you using?


Must admit, new it would come, but this is the *FIRST* ever backup I've come accross (DVDr or CDr), that I can't boot using a combination of my sig tools!

Guess the acid test is how many more DVD games use same double protection....

Maybe trying the knife trick (I tried it but am a bit impatient) and looking at the state I've left my PS2 in is telling me it's time to get a new one and a more heavy duty chip....

still...someone always knows better than you do...

OK I think I now how to get TRAOD to load using Neo2.2 and ONLY SWAP MAGIC 2 (by using the ps2ownz patch for PAL).

Can someone who has the PAL TRAOD DVDr please confirm the LBAs from isobuster please?

Can someon with working PAL copy confirm that the LBA values above are correct for PAL TRAOD

ALso, does it matter in CDVDGen in 'Volume' tab what you name the:
Disc Name
Volume
License Area?
