I'm planning to get an XBOX with a flashed BIOS of X-ecuter with the 4977 bios. He says that there are no modchip installed, only the bios is flashed. will this let me play everything like dvdr, dvd+/-rw, cdrw, cdr, vcd, dvd, and such with direct booting? (put in game or movie BACKUP, xbox loads automatically.

Yes if the xbox TSOP is flashed then its "modified", meaning it will let you direct boot backups etc, same as getting a mod-chips...And bios 4977 is the best bios to date.check here for more info (http://www.xbox-scene.com/bios11.php)

Apart from CD-R/RW, this dephends on DVD-ROM drive, samsung drive is most compatible for readind CD-R/RW.

How much is he charging, cos remember there is no mod-chip inside, so only pay for the labor charge.

If you want to boot DVD movie then you'll need software called DVD X2 installed in the Harddisk. And for VCD etc you'll need software called XboxMediaPlayer.

Yeah, he has the special Samsung DVD drive installed. So, this means I can play everything with the correct software installed? Hes charging me $180 for the Xbox, all hookups, one controller, specail dvd drive, appz installed and 10 dvdr games. About booting dvd movies, If I install the DVD X2 to the HD, do I have to boot up, open that program, then play the dvd? or will the DVDs and Dvd-R movies that I put in automatically play. Same with the XboxMediaPlayer, once installed, what process do I go through, or could I just insert vcd/svcd and it'll play.

was searching around and it said that you must have the dvd remote for dvd playback. but with this bios, can i watch dvds and control it with my controller?

If you xbox has been flashed with the X2 bios then he probably already has DVDX or XBMP on it so you don't need the dvd playback kit to watch dvds! :D

when playing DVD movies, VCD etc you'll need to start the relevent applications. It doesn't take that long at all.

dephending on mother version, if the M$ original bios was replaced with 4977 bios, it needed a mod-chip, don't matter which one (he may have used 007 memorycard trick) and few points on the motherboard jumpered. then after flashing motherboard, the mod-chip was removed. but the jumpered MAY still be attached, meaning you can flash with any bios of your choice, BUT if the bios flashing goes wrong then xbox will be dead and you'll need a mod-chip to fix it.
