Hi,

I've been trying to backup MM3 for a while no - just no luck.

I've tried patching - that didn't work...

I have the executer bios .4976 - so do I need to patch the .xbe?

When I boot the DVD-R it won't boot.

I tried ripping to HD - but it just goes quickly to the green evox oval and then back to the menu when I try to start the game.

Is there something I am missing about these "newer" games? Something I need to do differently?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

What does this have to do with Mortal Kombat 3? Sorry for not having an answer.

upgrading to 4977 MIGHT help, but i dunno. sounds like a bum backup.

I am having the same exact prob with Mortal Kombat 3 as I do with Midtown Madness. The backups simply won't start - not from the HD nor from DVDR.

Since I already have 4976 I think I do not need to patch these games.

I ripped them both directly to the hd using px hdd loader - they just always go back to the evox menu. Any suggestions?

Thx!:hdspin:

i'm not sure where, but i heard that long file name don't get copied with hdloader. try using xcommander, boxplorer, flashfxp etc...

its not a patching issue, cos your 4976 should be fine.

My back up of MM3 works fine, but I patched it because I have an older bios. I dont think the long file name thing would matter if it was playing off of a dvd r.... only if it was trying to be ripped to the hdd. Is this a backup u made or is it a rip that u d/l'd because it might be a bad rip..dunno?!?

As far as Mortal Kombat 3 goes... Mame for Xbox cant run MK3 due to its ram limitations. This is hopefully going to be fixed when SuperFro puts out the next version of mame.. but for now play mk3 on an snes emulator or even pcsx for an almost perfect arcade transl;ation.

Actually MK3 and UMK3 work in the 2 latest versions of MAMEoX. The sound doesn't work in the newest version, though.

md500:
just hex edit the string values of the default.xbe file ,with winhex or something.
change from "E8CAFDFFFF85C07D" and edit it to "E8CAFDFFFF85C0EB"
