My Sony 24x cdrw was working fine before i reinstalled XP.
I can still write to cdrw discs.Im using Nero.
Now however when i try to burn a cdr it goes as far as writing the lead in @ 6% then just stays there the disc spinning but no writing.I eventually have to cancel and end up with a coaster.I took the drive out and put an older cdrw drive in and that works ok.Is the drive kaput or is there something i could try ?

I had a similar problem with Easy CD Creator 5 - running under Win2000Pro I suddenly had a problem where the drive froze whilst writing the lead-out (i.e. EZCD hung). Re-installed everything from ground-up and all is well now. I would recommend a fresh install as over-the-top types tend not to reset registry settings for Nero etc or your ASPI layer.
