Norton Ghost Problem
When I have a real problem I come to the pros so here it is.
Perhaps one of you can explain this to me. I have a system with a 550mhz AMD cpu and 256K of ram running XP Pro that I use for word processing and some other things. I decided to make an image of the HD for backup using Norton Ghost. The version of Ghost is the one included with Norton System Works 2003 Pro. The system has a 12x Sony CD-RW.
I started the process by selecting Ghost from the menu in System Works, selecting the partition I wanted to image, allowed the system to boot to PC Dos and began the copy to the CD-R. When I started the image the system was burning at over 200mb/min. This rate deteriorated to 60mb/min at about 75% through making the copy of the image before I got disgusted and shut the copy down. Any ideas why this happened and how this slow down of copy speed can be prevented? There is no telling how show the rate would have become if I had allowed the process to continue. The time to completion was constantly increasing.
Do you think this is a hardware problem?
