I have just recently purchased an NEC ND-1300A, with it I purchased some Datawrite Classic (red top) and some Ritek media.

The problem I have is that I can only write to th media using Easy CD Creator 6, all of the other programs I have tried...Nero 6, DVD Copy Express, ectc etc, just don't want to know.

The problem is it starts to write to the media, gets to 1% and then just sits there and the access light on the drive goes out, but when I use Easy CD Creator 6 it works with no problems at all.

Can someone please throw any light on this.

* I'm using Windows XP

Thanks in advance.

The 1300 is known for having problems. Although it's supposed to work just fine with Nero. What program are you using to decrypt the DVDs with?

I used dvd decryptor then DVD 2 One and tthen copy to dvd.
I have tried just a normal copy through Nero 6, just dragging a folder and trying to burn that, still the same problem, gets to 1% and then stops.

Stating the obvious first, does Nero 6 does recognise the NEC 1300 as a DVD burner? Is it set to use the NEC 1300 as the burner since you can make a choice of drives if you have more than one ie DVD burner / CD burner. Have you had a go through Nero Express?

I am surprised people are still buying the NEC 1300 since it has a lousy track record of problems from launch. When it comes down to other people producing unofficial firmware to get it to operate properly, says it all really, the drive sucks and is a lemon!! Take it back and get a Sony or Pioneer if you need dual format.

Thanks for the info...I've sent the NEC back and have just purchased a Pioneer DVR-106. I hope I have better luck with this one.

You should definitely have better luck with the Pioneer. It's still new but updates are coming out pretty quickly for it (unlike the 1300).
