And people wonder why so many of us don't recommend burning on the fly. It is far more demanding on your PC's resources than when you read it to the HD first. As mentioned above try reading it to the HD with your Atapi DVD-ROM.
Bubbers Jul 29, 2003, 04:17 PM thanx for replies lads, my atapi dvd om will not read to the hard drive.it tries to copy for up to 1% then tells me that
" there was a problem reading the source disc during the copy process. please make sure disc is free of fingerprints, scratches or dust then try again."
there is none of these on the discs I am trying to copy and have tried several different discs.

PhilEnfield Jul 29, 2003, 06:45 PM Could be on its way out or may need cleaning. Try a lense cleaner on the laser first.

jesterrace777 Jul 30, 2003, 11:04 AM Is it really worth it to save that little time if you are having these problems? It's not like CD burning where you can get away with burning on the fly with minimal fuss. How are your drives configured? (which one is slave and which one is master?) Also what are the specs of your computer?
Bubbers Jul 30, 2003, 05:17 PM Jest, all I am trying to do is burn quicker, my drives have been swopped around from master / slave to get best set up but same happens . Currently my drives are set up to the same as my mates and he can copy disc to disc no problem. My pc has more spec than his, pent 4 ,2.6with 512 mem and 120 hd. It is telling me that poss, there is a conflict with my dvd rom . What do you think
Thanks for reply

geobon Jul 30, 2003, 05:41 PM What make is the dvdrom? And have you tried ripping one of the movies your unable to copy to the HD using smartripper or dvd decrypter? For what youve explained in your posts so far it sounds like the dvdrom is on its way out. Best way to test this is use smartripper etc, If it fails try cleaning the drive with a disc cleaner before writing it off.

does rnm show support for your reading dvdrom drive in the drive window?????
according to trouble shooting, code errors, in help menu:-
5-25-00 = logical drive not supported.
1 option is use alc. 120% with your recorder, take an image, and burn that.
