Lately everytime I seem to download a song I seem to be getting corrupted files. I'll download 15 copies of a song and they all play for about 10 seconds than the rest seems to be corrupted......Is this some type of new protection?

If they are MP3 files then they are not protected. They may be corrupted , try resampling them with something like MP3 Workshop (http://myhome.iolfree.ie/~mp3workshop/) and you may be able to recover them. Also try a different media player.

Thanks for the advice...I will give it a try, it just seemed odd that lately I am getting so many corrupted files....I had thought maybe it was the player but I have tried a few MP3 players and get the same results....

There are rumours that some Bands and record companies are flooding file sharing networks with corrupt or fake MP3s, however my theory is that some files just get corrupted and people just leave them sitting in their 'share' directories meaning that more of these bad copies persist as more people download them.
When you're pirating music you really can't complain about quality control!

I tried resampling the file and that didn't work. I'm starting to beleive the rumors...seems like any new song I downloaded I have to download about 20 or more copies to find one thats not corrupted where as old songs I dont seem to have this problem.....

Try MP3-Check (http://home.arcor.de/shivi/MP3Test/). This will check to see if the file is corrupt.
