Hi,

I'm not sure if this belongs here or i have to post it in "Consumer's Opinion" forum.

My computer is currently on the ground, on the bottom of my desk. I want to put it on the desk, near the monitor. So it will be between the monitor and the wall. Is it safe?
I want to put it on my desk because when its on the ground, i can't really be in a good position in front of the computer, ill be a bit far from the keyboard so my back starts to hurt so bad. So if i put it on my desk ill have the space to be near of the keyboard. So is it safe?

Thanks

I don't understand your concern Why wouldn't it be safe?

You might notice small EMI defects in your moniter, but that rarely happens.

You can put it anywhere you like as long as you have good ventilation and not much in the way of vibration! Being infront of you may make it seem noisier though.

You could always leave it where it is and buy some extension cables for your keyboard / mouse etc which would allow you to bring to keyboard closer to you.

As Darkman stated, why wouldn't it be safe? The only hazard is the very rare occurance of cds shattering. This is very rare, and it hardly matters. Put it where you like as long as it has sufficient ventilation. All this stuff about EMI is absolute rot. Case modders who use perspex side panels dont have problems with EMI.

What's EMI?

insomniac, why would the CDs shattered.

I'm asking if its safe or not because i never heared of someone who put it on his desk. So I would like to ask before trying it out.

All our pc's here at work are on the desk, running p3's, i personally preffer having my drive bays by my feet though, it makes for easier access.

it's right besides me too,
on the left of the monitor my pc, on the right a TV.
screen (normal, no tft) never flickers, only when my mobile rings :)

I prefer the PC off the desk to give me more desk room. Use ps2 extension cable for the keyboard/mouse or get cordless. No harm in having it on the desk.
