I've been with NTL 600K now for just over 1 year, and my download speeds are farely good 60-70 K/sec then again sometimes at peak hours it can be 56k speeds. My question here is, upgrading to 1mbit for a extra £10 a month worth it?

Will my download speeds incrase? On Kazza I can sometimes pull of 80k/sec but it does not stay there for very long. I know it depends where you download from but will I benefit from it?

if you have £120 a year then we wont stop you

people seem to download at 120 K/S with 1mbit

They said to me they can do it over the phone by chainging a config or something and I'd be at 1mbit after 15 minutes of switching the modem off. But what I really want to know here is really, is it worth it? Can someone who uses 1mbt tell me if you notice a increase in DL speeds and web browsing?

If the money isn't an issue and your main concern is an increase in speed, then yes it's worth it. You should see a download speed of about 100-120 kbps.

i was on 600k for about 3 months...then i switched to 1 meg (took 5 mins, plus you can downgrade back to 600k after a month a think)...anyway 1 meg is a lot faster and you def do notice the difference.

you wont go back to 600k i guarantee ;)

I did download something I only got 100k/sec and browsaing the web seems the same. I have not really notice a diference a all so I think I'll downgrade back to 600k.

browsing isn't much of a difference of course....
but downloading, yes...
60k compare to 100k per second
40k difference and if you do alot of download, that's a time saver...

things like kazaa and what have u depend on the person's comp and line from which youre downloading. if u have access to FTP's which offer you unlmited bandwidth, you get around 120 no problem.

for browsing, theres not much difference. only good if your computer is downloading constantly 24-7.

each dvdr (4.5gb) used to take 22 hours on my old connection and now with 1mb, it takes half it, sometimes even less. all depends how youre using the line to be honest
