I have a version 7 PS2, I was trying to remove the cover that covers the tray motor and slider cog. On older version Ps2's there a screw that holds it in place, but on V7, its bolted down by clams/snapps. I got all 3 up but there seemed to be something in the middle holding it down, I pulled, but didn't want to break it.

Does anyone know how to remove it?

Thanks

heh, I alwys wondered what holds that middle peice in too. It looks like that small hole in the middle of the cover has a screw in it, but it doesn't. I just use a moto-tool and grind the edges of the circle out until I can remove it. I suppose a soldering iron could melt the plastic thin enough too. But I can't figure out the 'proper' way to remove it either, and I was also afraid of snapping that little pcb board that it is connected to, so I have been grinding the plastic back now for about 6months. It easily snaps back into place afterwards.

ITs a middle screw on the front bottom of the tray when you turn the tray upside down

Ok, thanks guys, so that means I have to remove the bottom case, and the expansion bay frame?

Yup you have to take the tray out completely and look on the front bottom of the tray the screw schold be in the center if not its on the left or right hand side.
