I was thinking about getting the Amd Barton XP2800 and 512 DDR Ram and an ABIT motherboard

Asus has some of the best boards and I would definitely look at an NForce2 board like the A7N8X. if your not wanting to spend the money on a Radeon 9600 pro or a Nvidia FX 5600 Ultra then I would opt for a G4Ti4200.

I would go for the new Asus mobo, probably the best quality on board sound there is.
