I am in the US and I was going to buy some XBOX games to bring back home to UK but I need to know if they will work.

My xbox is unchyipped; version 1.1 I think.

if it's unchipped then no they won't work. a modchip would remove region protrection.

the only games that will work on an unmodified xbox are a few xbox live games such as mechwarrior.

but if I get it chipped i the UK there is no point in buying american games as copied games in uk would be cheaper; true?

And that is rubbish, there are no region free Xbox games. The fact they are Live makes no difference.

US Return To Castle Wolvenstien is region free, and will run on an unmodded UK/Pal Xbox.
