stupid newbie Aug 13, 2003, 12:48 AM can someone tell me what is the difference (advantages/disadvantages) between an x box with the exploit and a xbox with a modchip? Devil-Man Aug 13, 2003, 12:50 AM the exploits are for more technical minded people who are more serious into software cracking than anything. besides the exploits will never be as stable as installing a mod. dcgamez4 Aug 13, 2003, 03:27 AM Yeah, that's true... that's why I'm trying to install a mod-chip in mine, right now. Besides, it's a bit safer. shaunyboy@work Aug 13, 2003, 04:30 PM As long as you read up on them beforehand the exploits are excellent. I'm using the audio exploit on mine (and have done some for friends too) and am well pleased with it. I'd actually held off buying an XBox until the exploits came along as I didn't fancy the hassle of installing a chip. Memphis Aug 13, 2003, 06:00 PM Yep, the exploits have hit a stage where they are very much comparible to a modchip. With the ability to now hack the original dash so that it will run even with the font exploit, those who don't want a chip have a viable alternative. Yes they are technical, yes you need to know what your doing and yes they are still a little more buggy than a chip. There are only three drawbacks I can think of at the moment and they are hardly major. 1) Installation. You really need 007AUF and the EvoX hacked save to make it easy. 2) Hard Drive upgrades. It is very complicated when compared with just bungin one in when you have a chip but still nothing that a little research and technical knowledge can't get round. 3)Live. No one knows yet what would happen. Personally I believe that so long as you start the box with the game in, the exploit wont load from the dash and thusly the hacked BIOS wont load. This may all change in September with the new Live dash. So there you go, DEFINATLY a viable alternative modding technique. shaunyboy@work Aug 14, 2003, 03:27 AM If anyone needs any help with either the fonts or audio exploits please feel free to get in touch. As far as I'm aware the audio hack is the safest to go with as it doesn't boot up the Evo-x dashboard until you want it to - you go straight to the regular MS Dash when you originally boot up. This should make it safe to use with X-Box Live (for the moment anyway). I also have all the necessary files that you'll need. deadyellowmonkey@yahoo.co.uk |
